Monster Presents Awards To Seven Top Retailers

Las Vegas — Monster Cable Products honored its top dealers of the year last night at the Paris Hotel ballroom, here, citing seven retailers for their contributions during the past 12 months to the consumer electronics business as well as to CE accessories maker Monster.

Ultimate Electronics, based in Thornton, Colo., took down the top spot — the Monster Gold Achievement Award.

Alan Neubauer, of New York-based Stereo Exchange, won the Most ‘Monsterous’ Retail Salesperson award.

The Most Monsterous Car Audio Retailer went to Innovative Audio of Bellevue, Wash.

The Little Guys, of Glenwood, Ill., received the Most Monsterous A/V Independent Specialist Retailer citation.

Regional retailer Harvey Electronics, based in Lyndhurst, N.J., was named the Most Monsterous A/V Independent Specialist Chain.

The Most Monsterous A/V Specialty Chain award went to Alameda, Calif.-based Good Guys.

Future Shop, the Burnaby, B.C.-based retailer, which is part of Best Buy’s International division, won the Most Monsterous International Retailer.

Monster, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, attracted close to 5,000 attendees to its annual dealer awards ceremony and concert — close to capacity for the Paris Hotel ballroom.

This year’s featured performer was Carlos Santana and his band. Santana is a multiple Grammy Award winner and an inductee into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

The evening began with a video of music industry luminaries congratulating Brisbane, Calif.-based Monster on its quarter century in the CE industry. Among the well-wishers were B.B. King, Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler and George Benson.

The video was followed by the awards ceremony, which was presided over by Noel Lee, the Head Monster.
