Seattle, Wash. — CE retailing veteran Frank Sadowski has resigned from Amazon.com, effective today, after five years with the e-commerce company. He is expected to announce his plans next week, and will likely remain within the CE industry in an international capacity.
Sadowski joined Amazon in 2001 as VP/CE merchandising, with responsibility for consumer electronics and computers. In that position, he helped forge relationships with manufacturers and secure key authorizations at a time when e-tailing was still feared as a disruptive channel.
He later expanded that role as Amazon’s VP/global CE vendor management.
Turing his tenure there, Amazon grew from a CE renegade struggling to obtain vendor authorized merchandise to a respected Top 20 seller of CE and IT products with an estimated $1 billion in category sales.
Prior to joining Amazon, Sadowski was senior VP/merchandising for CE e-commerce pioneer 800.com. Before that he was a merchant for Sun Television and Appliance and a buyer for Silo.
