Berlin, Germany -LG Electronics, Philips and Sharp issued a joint
statement before the start of IFA, here, that they have agreed to work jointly
to ramp up applications for Internet-powered televisions.
The three companies will create software development kits for
distribution to third-party developers to write TV applications.
LG said that although the three companies use different operating
systems in the smart TVs, establishing a common technology standard for
building applications will help them run compatibly on the various sets.
