San Jose, Calif. – Acer introduced its first quad-core
tablet into the North American market today.
The Wi-Fi-only 10.1-inch Acer Iconia Tab A510 is powered by
an Nvidia Tegra 3 mobile processor and is running Android 4.0.
The A510 is available for pre-order as of March 23 for $449
and can be purchased in either silver or black. A ship date was not given by
Acer.
The Tegra 3 is partnered with Nvidia’s 12-core GeForce
graphics processing unit. The Tegra 3 also features Nvidia’s Super 4 Plus 1

Battery Saver Core technology. This enables power
savings by disabling the four primary cores and using the fifth core to handle
low-power tasks like music, standby and video. The other four cores are used as
needed, with all four turning on for intense applications like gaming, the
company said.
The 10.1-inch, 16:10 display features 720p resolution, an
85-degree viewing angle and has Dolby Mobile 3 Audio. It has Micro HDMI and USB
2.0 ports, 1GB of RAM and 32MB of flash storage, and a MiniSD card reader
capable of supporting a 32GB card.
The unit is also equipped with 5-megapixel rear-facing and
1-megapixel front-facing cameras.
It comes bundled with Polaris Office 3.5 and Acer Print.
