Kindle Fire Out Of Stock

Seattle – Amazon.com said it has run out of Kindle Fire tablets.

The announcement comes one week ahead of the e-tailer’s expected debut of a Kindle Fire 2 model.

Amazon said the $199 Kindle Fire captured 22 percent of the U.S. tablet market in its first nine months, and has been the company’s best-selling product since its launch nearly one year ago.

“We’re grateful to the millions of customers who have made Kindle Fire the most successful product launch in the history of Amazon,” said founder and CEO Jeff Bezos. “Kindle Fire is sold out, but we have an exciting roadmap ahead — we will continue to offer our customers the best hardware, the best prices, the best customer service, the best cross-platform interoperability, and the best content ecosystem.”

A check of Amazon.com confirmed that the e-tailer is no longer selling the tablet, and is listing only previously-owned models through its third-party marketplace.

Amazon is expected to introduce an updated Kindle Fire platform at a Sept. 6 press conference in Santa Monica, Calif., ahead of Apple’s rumored debut of an iPad Mini tablet.

Bezos added that Amazon’s top 10 sellers have been digital products since Kindle Fire’s launch last September.
