Target Grows Smart-Home Family With MonBaby

Target, which is aggressively plying the smart-home waters with a Connected Living shop, a connected Open House concept store and connected-healthcare displays, has made room for one more in its IoT assortment.

Joining the in-store lineup is MonBaby, a button-sized baby monitor that’s worn by the infant and relays breathing, location, fall detection and rollover alerts via mobile app.

The item, which appeared on Target.com earlier this year, will soon ship to 444 of the discounter’s flagship stores, including a number of locations featuring Target’s customer-assisted Baby 360 infant departments.

“Target has done an amazing job of embracing the concept of connected living, and it’s an honor to be featured among the many innovative offerings in that space,” said Arturas Vaitaitis, inventor of MonBaby and chief technology officer of its manufacturer, MonDevices.

Added CEO Lev Grzhonko: “The Internet of Things is becoming more and more commonplace as people incorporate it into their work, play and home lives. It makes sense for a forward-thinking retailer like Target to give this new category a prominent place within its stores, and we look forward to being a part of it.”
