Vizio Adds To SmartCast Line With XLED TVs, Soundbars, Wireless Speaker

Vizio unveiled a complete A/V assortment for the home including new M-series HDR TVs, soundbars and wireless speakers.

The new 2017 Vizio SmartCast M-series Ultra HD HDR XLED Plus Display collection is powered by the company’s full-array local dimming backlight technology, XLED Plus, for added color performance, image detail and clarity, the vendor said. The line supports Dolby Vision and HDR10 content.

Ultra Color Spectrum, which is said to depict every hue and tone for more accuracy, and the Xtreme Black Engine Plus, utilize 32 local dimming zones and Vizio’s advanced local dimming algorithm to dynamically adapt brightness to mimic the on-screen image.

SmartCast TV will enable viewers to use the included remote to browse featured content and a curated list of apps. For those who prefer to control their entertainment via a mobile device, there is a SmartCast Mobile app.

Street pricing ranges from $800 for a 50-inch panel to $3,000 for the 75-inch screen.

Vizio also unveiled its new line of soundbars, including Chromecast models for easy audio streaming.

The line features a 36-inch 5.1 wireless Chromecast/SmartCast model at $250, down to a 28-inch 2.0-channel model for $80.

The built-in Chromecast allows streaming from iHeartRadio, Google Play Music, Pandora, Spotify and others. A tap of the Cast button streams music directly over Wi-Fi to any Vizio SmartCast device on the home Wi-Fi network. It’s also compatible with Google Assistant voice command via a Google Home device.

In addition, Vizio will ship a new collection of wireless multiroom speakers, the SmartCast Crave Go collection with built-in Chromecast.

Crave Go allows users to connect multiple Chromecast-enabled audio devices over Wi-Fi.

The speakers have a rechargeable battery offering up to six hours of battery life. A new form factor features a metal speaker grill, rubberized back for an enhanced grip and built-in folding kickstand. The Crave Go includes custom-crafted drivers that deliver audio up to 88 decibels with bass as low as 75Hz.
