TongFang Ceases Producing Seiki TVs; Will Start Shipping Element Amazon Fire TV June 14

Pre-orders come with free HDTV antenna 5/16/2017 01:00:00 PM Eastern

Element Electronics has begun taking pre-orders on Amazon for its line of 4K Ultra HD Amazon Fire TVs.

The LED TVs, first announced during CES in January and targeted toward cord cutters, operate using the Fire TV OS. They’re offered in four screen sizes with 3,840 by 2,160 resolution: 43 ($449), 50 ($549), 55 ($649) and 65 inches ($899). They will become available June 14 through Amazon and other retailers.

Element TVs are manufactured by TongFang Global, which also produces TVs for the Westinghouse brand. Until recently, TongFang also produced Seiki-branded TVs, but it’s no longer doing so, a spokesperson told TWICE. Seiki was originally slated to also have a Fire TV model but will no longer, she confirmed.

The Westinghouse Fire TV ship date has not been finalized. Both Westinghouse and Element models will have the same specs, but they will not be sold through the same retailers, with the exception of Amazon.

The Element TVs offer a 60Hz refresh rate and come with built-in 1.1GHz quad-core processors, 3GB of internal memory (expandable up to 16GB via USB/SD card), Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, four HDMI inputs, USB 2.0 and 3.0 inputs, component/composite input, and optical SPDIF output.

A company spokesperson told TWICE during CES that the TVs would provide additional features not currently available via the Fire TV Stick and set-top box, such as the integration of streaming and over-the-air TV content into a single UI.

A voice-controlled remote with Amazon Alexa is included, and consumers who pre-order from Amazon will receive an Amazon Basics-branded indoor HDTV antenna (required for consumers who wish to receive live over-the-air broadcasts).
