Panasonic Rolling Out First Value-Priced 4K TVs: CX400, CX420

Panasonic launched what it calls its first line of value-priced Ultra HD 4K TVs and is rolling them out to a variety of retailers after having focused TVs sales almost exclusively through Best Buy and through the Panasonic web site.

The new CX series consists of five smart 50- to 65-inch TVs at a suggested $799 to $1,499. They’re already available at panasonic.com and will be available in December at such retailers as ABC Warehouse, Brandsmart U.S.A., Curacao, Electronic Express, RC Willey, and Video Only. More retailers will be announced at a later date.

Earlier this year, the company began selling two other 4K TV series direct to consumers and to a handful of A/V retailers.

Panasonic had been selling TVs mostly through its web site this year with Best Buy carrying one model, a 1080p TV, a spokesperson said. In 2014, Panasonic did most of its TV volume through Best Buy, the company previously said.

The new direct-lit LED TVs feature 120Hz refresh rates, smart TV apps, built-in Wi-Fi, USB 3.0, and Ethernet port. Apps include Netflix, YouTube, Toon Goggles, Pandora and AccuWeather.

The series consists of the CX400 black models and the CX420 matte silver models. The CX400 black-bezel models come in three screen sizes: 50-inch at $799, 55-inch at $999, and 65-inch at $1,499.The CX420 matte silver bezel modes come in two sizes: 55 inch at $999 and 65-inch at $1,499.
