V-Moda Launches Remix, Its 1st Bluetooth Speaker

V-Moda took the wraps off its first Bluetooth speaker, a model that also serves as a headphones amplifier.

Measuring 8 inches long, the speaker features two 10-watt speakers with glass-fiber diaphragm, a rear-mounted bass reflex port, and the company’s built-in Vamp headphones amplifier. It also has a built-in mic for speakerphone capabilities and multi-device pairing. Unlimited Remixes can be paired together for multi-room sound. Wireless range is 33 feet.

Battery life is listed at 10 hours of playtime; the speaker charges via USB-C.

The Remix comes in two finishes — aluminum and vegan leather — and consumers can customize it via 3D printing. The speaker carries a $300 suggested retail, and customization options range from $40 to $370,000 for platinum plating.

This is not the first time the company has offered customization options to consumers. The company previously enabled consumers to 3D-print the metal shields on its Crossfade headphones, and it offered custom engraving for the shields for a time.

Said Val Kolton, V-Moda’s founder and CEO, in a statement: “V-Moda has made it possible to ‘endorse yourself’ rather than the manufacturer brand, and this option is becoming massively popular with our tribe of technologists, musicians, gamers and audiophiles. … One day, this level of module plus 3D customization will be everywhere you look: electric self-driving vehicles, entire homes, living rooms, kitchens, computers and even ‘Westworld’-like humanoid robots. This is just the very beginning and I am amped to celebrate the ground-breaking start of this revolution of manufacturing.”

V-Moda merged with Roland last summer.
