RadioShack Offers ‘Ship 4 Free’ Option

Fort Worth, Texas — As part of its holiday offering, RadioShack will ship out-of-stock items directly to customers from another store location at no charge.

The program, dubbed Ship 4 Free, is part of a stepped-up “R Promise” service initiative that also includes a 15-day price-match guarantee, and a broad range of payment options that include a private-label RadioShack credit card, a SmartPay rent-to-own leasing plan, plus support for Apple Pay.

The company is also planning an extended return policy and longer holiday hours, and has expanded its “Fix It Here!” same-day, in-store mobile repair service to 26 Chicago-area stores, for a total of over 550 RadioShack locations.

The effort follows a last-minute recapitalization commitment from investors, while the troubled chain continues to push a second lender group to OK extensive store closings.

Meanwhile, RadioShack has lined up a seasonal assortment that includes smart toys, drones and its traditional remote-control cars. Highlights include the national retail debut of LittleBits’ electronic modules collection; Sphero’s smartphone-controlled robotic ball; a private-label robotics starter kit; and a pair of RadioShack-branded drones, one with a built-in HD camera ($69.99) and the other featuring gyro stabilizers and a control range of 100 feet ($99.99).

“Our exclusive lineup of Christmas gifts, expanded assortment of private-label products and new industry-leading payment options make RadioShack the smart place to shop this season,” CEO Joe Magnacca said in a statement.
