Management Shakeup Continues At hhgregg With Departure Of Jeff Pearson

hhgregg marketing and e-commerce exec Jeff Pearson has left the company after ten years, in a continuation of senior management shakeup under interim CEO and chief financial officer Robert Riesbeck.

Pearson joined the retail chain in 2006 as marketing VP; was promoted to marketing senior VP in 2011; and was given added responsibility for e-commerce and strategy in January.

He was also tasked last year with developing strategic and transformation opportunities for the company’s marketing, store operations, merchandising and e-commerce functions.

The chain said in a federal filing that Pearson resigned to pursue another opportunity, after which his position was eliminated.

Functions reporting to Pearson have been assigned to other staffers, the company said.

His departure follows that of chief information officer Trent Taylor in March, and the resignation of longtime president/CEO Dennis May in February.

Riesbeck is working to reverse hhgregg’s dour fortunes — which include a $9 million fourth-quarter loss — while vying for permanent assignment to the corner office.

Pearson served as a purchase experience senior manager at Whirlpool prior to joining hhgregg.
