Yamaha Adds Aventage 3D Blu-ray Player

-- On the heels of announcing its new line of Aventage 3D A/V receivers, Yamaha Electronics Monday
introduced the Aventage BD-A1010 universal Blu-ray Disc player with advanced 3D
and HD video and audio playback functionality.

The new players
was said to have been designed to complement the recently introduced new 3D
Aventage receivers with compatible advanced performance and control features.

Key features in
the A1010, which is shipping now at a $500 suggested retail, include Internet
video streaming via Netflix, Blockbuster on Demand and YouTube Leanback
services, and dual USB (front/rear) inputs compatible with a wide-array of
audio and video playback digital entertainment media formats and source/storage
devices.

The BD player is
also compatible with a free downloadable iPhone app for component and A/V
system control. A similar app for Android devices will be introduced later this
year, Yamaha said.

The BD-A1010's
connected interactive features include support for the BD-Live and BonusView
systems, which provide secondary video and audio for enhanced commentary and
information, as well as features for existing and future entertainment options
via USB memory devices.

Interoperable
features for the new Yamaha Aventage A/V receiver line include: a "Scene" BD/DVD
button on a current Yamaha A/V receiver remote control, allowing users to turn
on the power to both the receiver and the BD-A1010 and begin disc playback.

The BD-A1010
offers FullHD 1080 advanced audio decoding, 1080p/24Hz-compatible HDMI, 7.1-multichannel
analog output, as well as two-channel down-mixed audio output.

As with some prior
Yamaha Blu-ray players, the BD-A1010 is "a Universal player," meaning it will
playback a wide variety of disc formats, including SACD and DVD-Audio multichannel
audio discs.

Format support
includes DivX Plus HD, AVCHD, WMV, MOV, JPEG (HD), MP3, MP4, WMA, WAV and AAC
content.

The player is also
compatible with x.v.Color and Deep Color enhancements on similarly encoded
video material.

"With our Aventage
products, we are elevating what people expect from home entertainment systems,
and the BD-A1010 is designed to offer the best video and audio experience,
seamless integration with our Aventage receivers and unprecedented control
features," stated Tom Sumner, Yamaha Electronics president. "With the presence
of smartphones in practically every household, the free downloadable control
app for iPhones - and soon Android devices - gives consumers a new level of
convenience to access the content they want, when they want it, without having
to track down the system remote."

Additional
features include an RC-232C for custom install integration and control,
on-screen display GUI, dual USB ports for video, music and photos, playback of
JPEG slideshows with MP3 audio sound, a detachable power cable, and Setup
Wizard which enables the system to be easily readied for video and audio
entertainment.
