Walmart Plans Weeklong CE Promo

Bentonville,
Ark.  – With the Christmas window quickly closing, Walmart will cut prices on select video and gaming
products in a weeklong promotion beginning this Saturday.

The “rollback” is the fourth in a series of week-long CE sales events that began in early November and were scheduled to run throughout the holiday selling season.

Targeted items include a Magnavox
Blu-ray Disc player that returns to its Black Friday doorbuster price of $78,
and a 46-inch Sony 1080p, 120Hz LCD TV and
PS3 bundle for $958, a savings of more than $500, the discounter said.

Also on sale will be a 32-inch Vizio 1080p LCD TV, which drops to
Walmart’s online price of $398, and a host of Blu-ray titles that will retail
for $19.96 through December.

The chain will add additional sale items throughout the week,
including a $299 Toshiba laptop with 3GB of memory and a 250GB hard drive, and  a $50 gift card with the purchase of an Xbox
Elite console (both effective Sunday).

The HD-related sales were prompted in part by recent research
showing that families are enjoying watching TV together this holiday season, and
that 80 percent of moms would set up or upgrade their home entertainment systems
if the price was right, Walmart noted.
