Saratoga, Calif. -
Roku, the manufacturer of Internet-streaming set-top devices, said Tuesday that
it has added the Vimeo video-sharing
channel on Roku devices.
The Vimeo channel will enable Roku users to view its library
of personal and professional content on connected SD and HDTVs.
Roku customers will find the Vimeo channel in the Roku
Channel Store later today, the company said.
The Vimeo channel provides access to the most popular videos
on Vimeo in up to HD quality as selected by Vimeo staff.
Vimeo users can link their accounts to watch their own
videos as well as those in personalized inboxes.
Vimeo also just introduced a new feature that is built into
the Roku channel called "Watch Later." The Watch Later feature is an easy way
to queue up a playlist to enjoy when time allows.
The Vimeo channel joins the more than 50 channels currently
available to Roku users. Other major entertainment partners include Netflix,
Amazon Video on Demand, MLB.TV and the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
"Vimeo is synonymous with the best that independent video
creators have to offer, and giving Roku customers access to this quality
entertainment in high definition further enhances the overall Roku experience,"
stated Jim Funk, Roku business development VP. "We think of our Roku customers
as a community of like-minded video enthusiasts who are looking for great value
and great entertainment. Vimeo will be a great addition for Roku customers."
