V-Moda’s Crossfades Get New Colors

NEW YORK — Other than taking the
honorable distinction of being VModa’s
first over-ear headphones,
the Crossfade headphones also have
the pleasure of taking on Monster’s
Beats by Dr. Dre in the “headphonesas-
fashion” category.

“We see this as much of a fashion
product as a headphone,” Val Kolton,
CEO of V-Moda, said in an interview
with TWICE last week. The Crossfades
were initially released in three
colors late in May and have already expanded
with two new designs — black
and purple, and red and black, each
with a croc finish on the ear cups and
headband.

Although this is V-Moda’s first official
foray into the over-ear market,
Kolton said the Crossfades were actually
the company’s first design, but
that it has taken them four years to get
it exactly the way they wanted it.

These headphones were designed
for the multi-purpose user, Kolton
said, although they have gained popularity
with DJs despite their lack of
swiveling ear cups. The lack of swiveling
— along with the lack of active
noise cancellation — were done to
keep the headphones lightweight.
Other features of the Crossfades include
50mm drivers with the company’s
patented dual-driver technology,
and a three-button remote and microphone
on a fabric cord.

“We like to create the greatest sound
for the greatest amount of people, for
the most popular music on the most
popular devices,” Kolton said of VModa’s
mission.

The Crossfades, which are currently
available, have a $249 suggested retail.
A hard carrying case is included,
along with a fabric 3.5mm audio cable
and 1/4-inch adapter.
