Tweeter To Re-Launch E-tail Site

Canton, Mass. – Tweeter Home Entertainment Group will re-enter the world of e-commerce this fall.

Internet sales for the specialty A/V chain have been sidelined since its online partner, Outpost.com, was acquired by Fry’s Electronics in September. But a new relationship with Global Sports, a King of Prussia, Pa., company that develops and operates e-commerce businesses for retailers, manufacturers, media companies and sports organizations, portends Tweeter’s return to e-tail.

“When we began to look for a new e-commerce partner,” said Tweeter president/CEO Jeff Stone, “it was very important to us to find a company with a leading technology platform, extensive e-commerce experience and a strong foundation. We look forward to working with them and our product vendors to develop a new era in the Tweeter online business.”

Under the agreement, Tweeter will handle all of the merchandising, branding and design of www.tweeter.com, which is presently informational only. Global Sports, whose clients include Kmart, Nickelodeon, The Sports Authority, QVC and the Denver Broncos, will be responsible for the e-commerce technology, customer service, order processing and fulfillment.

Tweeter says the new online store will feature a selection of mid- to high-end A/V technology for the home and car.
