Tokyo — Toshiba has introduced a slim-line HD DVD-RW drive for the notebook market.
The SD-L912A will ship in sample quantities to manufacturers next month. Pricing was not given. The drive can write to all HD DVD blank media types along with blank conventional DVD and CD media. Write speeds to HD-DVD-R single layer discs is 2x and 1x for the dual-layer variety. DVD-RW single- and dual-layer write speeds are also 1x.
Toshiba included an HD DVD player in its high-end Qosmio introduced earlier this year.
