6/08/2007 09:39:00 AM Eastern

Jackson, Mich. — Flash-memory cards are the second most popular medium for storing digital images, according to a Photo Marketing Association (PMA) survey.

PMA found that computer hard drives ranked first, with 72 percent of digital camera owners saying they kept photos there, followed by memory cards at 54 percent and CDs/DVDs at 53 percent (multiple responses were allowed).

According to PMA, one-third of memory cards sold in 2006 were 1GB or larger. As such, the organization concluded that “the needs for on-camera organization and better kiosk upload capacity is certain to intensify in the near future.”
