Pioneer Enters iPod-Dock Market

Electronics is shipping its first docking
systems for iPods and iPhones.

Chris Walker, home entertainment
business solutions group director at Pioneer
Electronics (USA), said in a statement,
“For our first entry into the dock
category, we took a different approach and
created each one with build and sound
quality as a priority. The entire line was
personally sound tuned or evaluated by
our renowned TAD speaker engineer, Andrew
Jones, who also created our exclusive,
high-end EX line of home speakers.”

Four models were introduced: the
XW-NAS3/-K, part of the Audition series;
the XW-NAC1-K and XW-NAC3-
K system, part of the Duo series; and
the Pioneer HTD system, model XWNAV1K-

The XW-NAS3/-K features a “double
isolated frame” that is meant to improve
overall bass response while reducing cabinet
resonance. The entire audio frequency
spectrum is reproduced by the system’s
2.1-channel dynamic digital amplifier, Pioneer
said, and the dock can be connected
to a television monitor or display.

It will be available this month in black
or white for a $449 suggested retail.

The Duo series models — XWNAC1-
K and XW-NAC3-K — come
with built-in Bluetooth to wirelessly
stream audio from an iPhone 3G or 3G
S, iPod Touch (second generation or later),
computer or another Bluetooth-compatible

The XW-NAC1-K ($349) will be
available in May and the XW-NAC3-K
will be available in June ($449).

Finally, the “all-in-one solution” XWNAV1K-
K has an a Works with iPhonecertified
dock, DVD/CD player, FM
tuner, USB connectivity and CD-to-
MP3 ripping capability. It will be available
in June with a black or white frame
for a $299 suggested retail.
