Panasonic Ships Blu-ray Players

Tuesday released pricing and availability details of the Blu-ray Disc players
in its 2012 line.

This year’s lineup features four Full HD 3D models – the
DMP-BBT01 ($270 suggested retail), DMP-BDT500 ($350), DMP-BDT320 ($200),
DMP-BDT220 ($150), and two Full HD 2D-only players – DMP-BD87 ($120) and the
DMP-BD77 ($90).

All are available now except for the the DMP-BDT500 and the
DMP-BBT01 models, which will ship in May.

All 3D models include the Viera Connect IPTV platform, while the
2D models feature a scaled-down IP VOD system that packages a targeted
selection of streaming service partners including: Netflix, Vudu, CinemaNow and
YouTube on TV.

The 3D players also include an improved UniPhier chip processor,
24p output for VOD, an expanded Viera Connect functionality, FLAC, 192Hz/32bit
Audio DAC (not available on the DMP-BBT01), smartphone remote control
capability, a new touchpad remote control (available on DMP-BBT01, DMP-BDT500,
DMP-BDT320), and 2D-to-3D up-conversion, which can convert 2D images from Viera
Connect, DVDs and Blu-ray discs into 3D, with natural depth perception and slim
designs.

Models BBT01 and BDT320 also feature a slot-in drive that allows
the user to insert a disc without the need for a tray. The DMP-BBT01 also introduces
a new compact design concept with a stand that enables operation either
vertically or horizontally.
