Operation Photo Calls On Vendors For Camera Donations

Irvine, Calif. — Photo retailer 30 Minute Photo Etc. is spearheading an effort called Operation Photo to donate hundreds of new and used digital cameras to U.S. families with relatives serving in the military and is asking camera and photo accessories manufacturers to pitch-in.

According to 30 Minute Photo president and Operation Photo founder, Mitch Goldstone, the requests for cameras are outpacing the number of cameras being donated, by a margin of three-to-one, so he is expanding his pitch to manufacturers and suppliers of both digital cameras and flash memory cards, in addition to other related accessories

The effort has recently been joined by Kodak, which will donate 100 of its 3-megapixel CX-6630s, and Olympus, which will donate 50 unspecified camera models.

Goldstone is planning to present the collected cameras Operation Homefront, a charitable organization devoted to military families, during a press conference on Valentine’s Day.
