Paris – LaCie announced the latest addition to its line of
award-winning Rugged hard drives, a downsized model called the LaCie Rugged
Mini.
The Rugged Mini, designed by Scottish industrial designer Neil
Poulton, is 40 percent smaller than
, is rain-resistant and can withstand 1 ton of
pressure.
It features a scratch-resistant aluminum casing and comes
preloaded with LaCie’s proprietary Private-Public software with AES data
encryption and password protection.
The USB 3.0 drive clocks in at 7,200 rpm for fast data transfer
— less than three minutes for an HD movie, 1,000 MP3 music files in less than
45 seconds and 2,000 photos in about a minute, according to the company’s
testing. It is backward compatible with USB 2.0.
The included software suite is compatible with Mac and PC
computers, allows custom backup scheduling and has an eco mode for power
savings.
The Rugged Mini includes 10GB of
for one year.
The drive will be available this summer in 500GB or 1TB
capacities starting at the suggested retail of $95.
