Paris - LaCie announced the latest addition to its line of
award-winning Rugged hard drives, a downsized model called the LaCie Rugged

It features a scratch-resistant aluminum casing and comes
preloaded with LaCie's proprietary Private-Public software with AES data
encryption and password protection.
The USB 3.0 drive clocks in at 7,200 rpm for fast data transfer
-- less than three minutes for an HD movie, 1,000 MP3 music files in less than
45 seconds and 2,000 photos in about a minute, according to the company's
testing. It is backward compatible with USB 2.0.
