Gummersbach, Germany – Imaging accessories maker Jobo AG said it would ship a new version of its Giga Vu extreme hard disc based photo storage and viewing peripheral to dealers this month.

The device features a VGA-resolution, 3.7-inch LCD display and support for over 100 RAW image file formats. It can transfer images from memory cards to the hard drive at a rate of 1GB every two minutes, the company said, with a feature to verify that images have been successfully copied.

It features slots for SDHC and CompactFlash memory cards and supports additional memory cards with an optional adapter.

The Giga Vu extreme also offers a video out, and supports the playback of MPEG1, 2 and 4 video files and MP3 audio files. It can connect with Jobo’s photoGPS device to match image data with GPS coordinates.

The portable viewer will be available in 80GB, 120GB and 160GB capacities for a suggested $599, $749 and $899, respectively.
