Jamo, Mirage Strategies To Take Shape At Expo

8/22/2011 12:01:00 AM Eastern

INDIANAPOLIS – The direction of Klipsch Group’s
Jamo and Mirage brands will come into clearer focus
at the CEDIA Expo, where some of the first products
under the brands’ new go-to-market strategies will put
in an appearance.

Klipsch Group has taken steps to accelerate Jamo
product development, reposition Mirage as a Jamo adjunct
series, and combine their dealer bases, yet maintain
clearly differentiated product selections.

The company shifted Jamo R&D to Klipsch’s Indianapolis
facility, which boasts a larger staff and more
resources than Jamo’s previous R&D center and will
bring more “visionary” products to market at a faster
pace, said Klipsch Group CEO Paul Jacobs.

Jamo will maintain its Danish design heritage with
product design remaining in Denmark and continue to
focus on direct-radiating speakers, while Mirage will
continue to offer its signature omnipolar driver design.
Mirage will also focus on bringing omnipolar technology
to application-specific “form-follows-function”
speakers, such as a planned SKU that will be displayed
at the Expo and do triple-duty as a freestanding,
wall-mount or ceiling-mount speaker, Jacobs said.

At CEDIA Expo, new Mirage speakers will feature
the brand’s signature Omni-Polar design for 360-degree
dispersion but in speakers that adopt a completely
new look and smaller appearance than previous
Mirage generations, said Glen Fuller, Jamo’s lead product designer.

Mirage will also share Jamo’s “mantra of ‘form follows
function’ and minimalistic design that is part of the Jamo
DNA,” he said.

Under the Jamo brand, the company will launch a
powered two-channel speaker system and a 2.1-channel
sub-sat system. Both are designed for use with a
wireless sender and receiver to stream music wirelessly
from a PC or from MP3 players, smartphones and other
mobile devices.

In custom-installed speakers, Jamo will show its recently
shipped Custom 400 and Custom 600 series of flangeless,
flat-grille in-wall and in-ceiling speakers. A total of 18 SKUs
are available between the two series.
The Custom 600 series prices range from a suggested
$849 to $1,299/pair.

The Custom 400 series prices range
from a suggested $649 to $899/pair.

The 600 series offers LCR and surround in-ceiling and
in-wall models, while the 400 series offers LCR in-wall and
in-ceiling models.

Like previous custom speakers, the new models feature
Centre Plug, Decoupled Tweeter Technology, Hard Conical
Cone and WaveGuide.
