Las Vegas — HTC is bringing its Touch Dual PDA phone to the United States from Europe for spring availability through a major national retailer and HTC’s Web site, the company said at the CTIA show.

It will be among the industry’s first phones to incorporate the Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional OS, which will also be available as an upgrade to the company’s other PDA phones beginning in the spring.

The Dual Touch features a touchscreen with proprietary TouchFLO motion user interface, which allows for finger-touch scrolling and browsing of documents, Web pages, photos, and contact lists, panning, and zooming. The worldphone also features slide-down dialing keypad and virtual QWERTY keyboard.

The device is a quadband GSM/EDGE model that also operates in W-CDMA HSDPA model in the U.S. 850/1900MHz bands. Other features include 2.6-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth 2.0, microSD slot, five-hour talktime on standard battery, 2-megapixel camera, HTC time and weather display, and such messaging options as Windows Live, MSN Hotmail, Microsoft Outlook and support for Microsoft Direct Push enterprise email.

A week before the show, HTC’s first mobile computer, the Shift Ultramobile PC based on the Vista Business Edition OS, became available through Amazon.com and HTC’s own Web site. The $1,499 1.8-pound Shift features embedded CDMA 1x EV-DO wireless data for use on Sprint’s network, 7-inch sliding touchscreen that slides back and tilts up to assume a laptop-like form factor, 40GB HDD, 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0 and Windows Media Player 11.

Shift is HTC’s first handheld device built on a full-fledged PC OS.
