HP Strikes Camera Phone Deal

Singapore — Hewlett Packard has licensed its digital image processing technology to electronics manufacturer Flextronics.

According to the five-year technology collaboration agreement, HP will provide Flextronics with its image correction and enhancement technology in exchanged for an unspecified royalty. The technologies are currently used in HP’s Photosmart still camera line and include automatic red eye reduction, exposure adjustments and other in-camera image enhancements.

Flextronics plans to embed the technology into mid-level and high-end camera phones and camera-equipped mobile devices by 2007.
