Grom Audio, a supplier of OEM-integration devices for factory-installed car
stereo systems, has developed an adapter that lets consumers stream music from a
Samsung Galaxy S and S II smartphone to a factory sound system while also
charging the phone.
The company plans
Jan. 14 availability through its web store of a $19.75 adapter cable that plugs
into two of the company’s OEM-integration devices. The two devices are the $69
Grom-IPD3 and the $129 Grom-USB.
The IPD3,
available in 18 different SKUs for multiple vehicle models, adds hands-free
Bluetooth to a factory system, lets users stream music to the sound system from
a portable device via stereo Bluetooth, and features a 3.5mm aux-in jack to
play music from a portable device through the factory system.
The $129 Grom USB,
available in 20 SKUs for multiple vehicle models, features embedded MP3, WMA,
AAC, and OGG decoders to play music from a USB stick. It also features 3.5mm
aux-in jack, hands-free Bluetooth and stereo Bluetooth.
The Galaxy S and S
II adapter cable features a MicroUSB cable on one end and a MiniDIN connector
on the other end to plug into the adapter boxes.
