Irvine, Calif. — Gateway is adding new notebooks and desktops for the back-to-school season.

The company’s new notebooks include:

  • the Gateway P-series desktop replacement with a 17-inch widescreen;

  • the Gateway M-series with a 15.4-inch widescreen; and

  • the Gateway T-Series “thin-and-light” notebook with a 14.1-inch widescreen.

According to a release, several of the new notebooks feature Intel Centrino Mobile technology and Intel Core 2 Duo processors. They also come with integrated Wi-Fi and Web cams.

The devices feature DVD burners with LabelFlash to burn text and images directly onto a disc label.

Several models are said to offer HDMI compatibility.

Other key notebook features include a multimedia panel integrated into the keyboard to provide easy access to frequently used audio and video functions.

The M-Series and T-Series are available in garnet red, Pacific blue, silver and gray.

On the desktop side, Gateway has also made a new introduction to its existing “value gaming” FX Series, added two retail-only models to its DX Series for digital media, and added a GT Series that the manufacturer said is well-suited for both work and play.

The new FX model, the FX4710, has a new industrial design with black casing and silver trim, featuring LED status indicators.

The model boasts an Intel Core 2 Quad Q9300 processor, 6GB of memory, over-clocked NVIDIA GeForce 9800GT graphics and Windows Vista Premium 64-bit. It is available at a suggested $1,150.

The new retail-only DX models are the DX4710 and DX4200. Both feature the same external design as the FX4710.

The DX4710 has an Intel Core 2 Quad Processor Q6600, Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit and 6GB of memory and is available at a suggested $1,000. It comes complete with a two-year warranty and a Gateway 22-inch widescreen high-def LCD monitor.

The DX4200 features an AMD Phenom 9500 64-bit Quad-Core processor and 6GB of memory. It also offers ATI Radeon HD 3450 hybrid graphics all at a suggested retail of $750.

Finally, the GT5692 and the GT5694 are part of the company’s new GT series; each retails for $550 and $650, respectively.

The GT desktops feature AMD Triple-Core or Quad-Core processors, 4GB of memory, ATI Radeon HD 3200 graphics and Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit. The GT5964 also comes complete with 802.11g dual-band wireless LAN.

Gateway’s new notebooks and PCs are all available now.
