Voice-Search Updates Added To Fire TV

Seattle — Amazon said Friday that Hulu Plus, Crackle and Showtime Anytime are integrating their full catalogs into Fire TV’s unified voice search.

The service enhancements join Vevo in offering voice-search capabilities for full over-the-top (OTT) content catalogs.

“We’re excited and energized by the momentum we’re seeing with Fire TV,” said Dave Limp, Amazon Devices VP. “Customers are telling us they love it, developers are building for it, and we’re working hard to expand existing features and build new ones. We’re thrilled to have Hulu Plus, Crackle and Showtime integrating their full selection of movies and TV shows into Fire TV’s unified voice search.”

Amazon said it is continuously working to improve the Fire TV experience.

In addition to the new expanded voice-search functionality for the Crackle, Showtime and HuluPlus catalogs running through this summer, developers were said to be working to make additional services and games available for Fire TV.

Amazon said new selections are coming from developers like Telltale Games, Halfbrick, Pixowl, Disney Interactive, Minority Media, Paradox Interactive, Gaiam, AllRecipes and Twitch.

New Fire TV features on the way include Prime Browse, which will make it easier to discover movies and TV shows from Prime Instant Video; Amazon FreeTime and Amazon MP3 integration will  be added in an upcoming over-the-air software update; and new games will be coming soon, including touch-enabled titles that will work through the upcoming Fire TV app for smartphones and tablets.
