Uniden Adds Top-End Security System

Irving, Texas — Uniden’s latest app-controlled home and small-business surveillance system steps up the company’s line to a suggested $499 and becomes its first product available through Apple’s online store.

The $499-suggested WDVR, which is also available at Uniden’s online store, comes with two all-metal indoor/outdoor Wi-Fi cameras and a DVR /wireless receiver with a 1TB hard drive.

The company’s other video-surveillance systems rage in price from $299 to $399. Most come with a touchscreen display that records video to a MicroSD Card. One model has a wireless receiver that connects to an optional outboard USB hard drive for recording. The company also offers stand-alone app-controlled Wi-Fi cameras.

The two included IP66-rated security cameras plug into a home’s power outlets and feature built-in microphones, motion detection, wireless range up to 500 feet and night-vision range up to 40 feet.

The 1TB DVR holds more than 120 days of VGA video, and a HDMI output allows for display on a connected TV.

Users download the free Uniden WDVR iOS or Android app to watch live video, review footage and receive customized alerts while on the go. The app let users view up to four security cameras with the option to view all four cameras simultaneously in quad view.

The apps also deliver full control of system settings, including recording parameters and video resolution, and they give users the option of receiving push notifications or email alerts when motion is detected.

Uniden also sells business telecommunications systems, radar detectors, vehicle dash cameras, Bearcat scanners, CB radios, FRS/ GMRS and marine radios, automobile battery jump-starters, and other personal communications products.
