Yamaha Unveils Aventage 3D BD Player

Buena Park, Calif. — Yamaha introduced Wednesday its new premium Aventage BD-A1040 universal Blu-ray Disc player, offering expanded connectivity including wireless Bluetooth linking.

The player, which ships to dealers in August at a $449 suggested retail, is said to have been designed and engineered to the same quality standards as Yamaha’s premium Aventage-series A/V receivers, including the use of a vibration-dampening high-grade aluminum front panel, symmetrical audio circuitry with 192 kHz/32-bit digital-to-analog converters, and gold-plated output terminals.

Video is enhanced using 1080p/24Hz HDMI output, x.v.Color and Deep Color compatibility, video noise reduction, and 1080p up-scaling of standard-definition DVDs, photos and home videos.

The model supports Blu-ray 3D, and high-resolution disc-based audio formats SACD and DVD-Audio, but output is supported only over HDMI connections. No multichannel analog audio outputs are included; however, the unit does include coaxial and optical digital outputs, as well as Ethernet and USB ports.

The BD-A1040 is also DLNA Certified, enabling it to stream content from compatible devices.

For networking, the BD-A1040 offers built-in Wi-Fi connectivity and offers a Wireless Direct feature that provides a wireless connection to Miracast-enabled smartphones and tablets to play and share music, videos, games or apps via this player to a TV.

With the built-in Wi-Fi, consumers can streamline system configuration through a setup wizard, as well as use the AV Controller App for iOS and Android devices to control the player from a smartphone or tablet device.

Networking capability enables access to Vudu, Dropbox, YouTube, Leanback and Picasa Web Albums for video on demand, as well as music and picture viewing from the online services or network hard drives.

Format compatibility includes H.264, MPEG PS, MPEG TS, MPEG-4, VOB, AVI, ASF, WMV, DivX Plus HD and AVCHD.
