Averatec has introduced the 2300 Series of ultra-portable notebook computers, its first such models incorporating AMD's dual core processors.

The series is positioned as an all-purpose ultra-portable for business and entertainement applications.

The models feature the Media Center Edition 2005 operating system and AMD's Turion X2 dual core chips. The notebooks are centered on a 12-inch display and can take up to 2GB of DDR memory, a 100GB hard drive, dual-layer burner, and full Wi-Fi wireless. Depending upon the configuration suggested retail prices range between $849 and $949.

The units will sell through Circuit City, Staples, Sam's Club, OfficeMax and AAFES.
