Live From CES, It’s Saturday Night!

Amid all the hoopla that was CES 2017 was a celebrity appearance that received remarkably little play.

SNL cast members Colin Jost and Michael Che recreated their Weekend Update bit for T-Mobile, which was on hand to announce a new tax-and-fees-included enhancement.

Sitting behind an anchor desk, the pair cold-opened the carrier’s press conference with a barrage of biting and off-color industry jokes that fell surprisingly flat among the T-Mo attendees, who were there to see their peerless leader John Legere.

Che and Jost took turns skewering Samsung (“Please take a moment to locate the nearest fire exit…”); the Fitbit Blaze (“It’s so bad at synching up they’re calling it the Mariah Carey…”);  AT&T (“The SkyJump at the Stratosphere set the world record for longest freefall … except for AT&T’s subscriber base…”); and of course Verizon (“The FBI finally concluded that Hillary Clinton’s 30,000 missing emails were somehow all Verizon billing questions.”)

You can see their performance here, along with an equally amusing clip of Legere bantering with passengers while cruising the streets of Vegas as a Lyft driver. (Viewer discretion advised!)
