Wireless Carriers Unveil More Q4 Launch Details

Sony’s second LTE phone for the U.S. market is the $99 Xperia TL, available Nov. 2 at $99 on the AT&T network.

New York — Wireless carriers continue to reveal more details about their fourth-quarter product launches.

U.S. Cellular said the Galaxy Note II “phablet” will be available tomorrow at $299, Verizon said the Note II pricing at $299 with availability in the coming weeks, and Sprint revealed that it became the first carrier to offer an Android 4.1 update for the Samsung Galaxy SIII.

AT&T said Sony’s Xperia TL Android smartphone, to be featured in the next James Bond movie, will be available Nov. 2 at $99.

The previously announced Xperia TL is Sony’s second U.S.-market LTE phone. The first, the PlayStation-certified Xperia Ion, is also offered by AT&T at $99. The TL also features 4G HSPA+21 technology.

The TL features a 4.6-inch 1,080 by 720 HD display and dual-core 1.5GHz CPU. It is the first Sony phone in the U.S. with ability to share music and photos via nearfield communications (NFC) technology when NFC-equipped phones are tapped together. It’s also Sony’s first U.S. phone with Mobile High-definition Link (MHL).

At Sprint, the carrier this morning began rolling out the Android 4.1.1 update as an over-the-air download for Samsung’s Galaxy S III.

And at U.S. Cellular, a spokesperson announced that the Galaxy Note II at $299 will be available Friday in U.S. Cellular stores and the carrier’s website.
