Monster Teams With Shaq

Brisbane, Calif. — Monster announced it has signed Shaquille O’Neal on as an endorsement spokesman.

According to the company, O’Neal will work with Monster to market a variety of its products, including headphones. Further details about promotional activities weren’t available, but a Monster spokeswoman did say it will involve in-store POP and social media.

The first two products O’Neal will endorse are the M7 tablet, introduced in September, and the Powercard backup battery. The rechargeable Powercard, said to be the same size as a credit card, is sold exclusively through Verizon stores in three colors for $49.95. It’s designed to provide an extra five hours of talk time.

A statement provided by the company quoted O’Neal as saying more products are in the works.

Noted head monster Noel Lee: “I am excited that we are collaborating with Shaq to market Monster’s products. His bigger-than-life personality, coupled with his keen marketing experience and sense, is a great fit for the Monster brand.”

“Nobody does studio quality sound better than Monster,” O’Neal said. “They absolutely revolutionized the headphone market. I’m excited to partner with them as they enter the tablet and rechargeable battery space. We have a few more products coming soon too.”
