Syracuse, N.Y. — AfterShokz, supplier of open-ear headphones powered by patent-pending bone-conduction technology, said that APW Brands, an airport CE reseller, will be a retail launch partner for the Aftershokz Sportz M2.
The second generation AfterShokz headphones will be available at APW Brands’ 50-plus retail locations in more than 21 airports nationwide, including Airport Wireless, Techshowcase and Tech Interaction. This partnership is an extension of the company’s focused effort to increase distribution into niche markets, the supplier said.
Airport Wireless retail electronics stores operate in major metropolitan U.S. airports.
Unlike conventional headphones and ear buds that use the eardrums to transmit sound, AfterShokz rest comfortably in front of the ear and utilize bone-conduction technology to transmit sound through the listener’s cheekbones to the inner ear, bypassing the eardrum completely. Said technology permits users to hear music or voice communications through the headphones while leaving ears free to hear ambient sound, such as oncoming traffic, car horns and warning noises, potentially preventing accidents, the company said.
This TWICE webinar, hosted by senior editor Alan Wolf, will take a look at what may be the hottest CE products at retail that will be sold during the all-important fourth quarter. Top technologies, market strategies and industry trends will be discussed with industry analysts and executives.
