Austin, Texas – The holiday selling season is far from over according to a new poll by digital coupon provider RetailMeNot.
The survey, conducted Dec. 3-5, shows that 87 percent of respondents, representing nearly 200 million consumers, had not yet completed their holiday shopping.
Parents appeared to be the biggest procrastinators, with 95 percent of moms and dads surveyed admitting to waiting until the last minute to buy holiday gifts.
Consequently, 64 percent of respondents said their past tardiness had cost them extra in expedited shipping charges, pushing 38 percent of them over their holiday budgets.
RetailMeNot advices 11th-hour shoppers to take advantage of “Free Shipping Day” on Dec. 18, a promotional event in which participating e-tailers offer free shipping with guaranteed delivery by Christmas Eve to help customers make their last-minute gift purchases.
This TWICE webinar, hosted by senior editor Alan Wolf, will take a look at what may be the hottest CE products at retail that will be sold during the all-important fourth quarter. Top technologies, market strategies and industry trends will be discussed with industry analysts and executives.
