New York – Dyson today rolled out upright and two cordless vacuum models which now include improved motors and cleaning heads.
The DC65 upright and DC58 and DC59 cordless models all hit stores in the next few weeks.
The upright DC65 was designed specifically for the U.S. market and its homes, 75 percent of which have variable floor surfaces. The DC65 has a self-adjusting cleaner head, so the user does not have to bend down and make a switch when the vacuum moves from a carpet to a hard surface, the company said.
The DC65 retains the Dyson Ball, giving it a tighter turning radius, and it has a quick-release hose and wand that can stretch about 8 feet.
The DC65 will come in three flavors: the Multifloor, which is bundled with a combination and stair tool, for $499; the Animal, which adds Dyson’s Tangle-free Turbine and soft dusting brush attachments, for $599; and the Animal Complete, which adds a multi-angle brush, stiff bristle brush, Zorb power and a Dyson tool case, for $649.
All three will become available on BestBuy.com on Jan. 19 and in Best Buy stores on Jan. 26, and will ship to all major retailers on March 2.
The Dyson Digital Slim DC59 is designed for apartments or as the secondary vacuum in a home. The unit has been designed with most of the battery and motor weight housed as close to the hand as possible, making it easier to hold for long periods of time.
It uses a lithium-ion battery to deliver 26 minutes of clean time. Its V6 350-watt digital motor delivers the same level of suction as a standard upright vacuum, the company said. Another new feature is a 10-inch cleaning head, 2 inches wider than the previous model.
The DC59 comes with an extension tool that can be disconnected, allowing the hand unit to be used to get to tight spaces.
It will ship on Feb. 1 at $499.
The DC58 is basically the DC59 without the extension arm. It uses the same motor and battery.
It will also ship on Feb. 1 with a $249 price tag.
