eam Novo Nordisk, the world’s first all-diabetes professional cycling team, and Pioneer Electronics, a leading global manufacturer of electronic products for the consumer and professional markets, announced a new partnership naming Pioneer as the exclusive equipment supplier to Team Novo Nordisk for cycle computers and power meters through 2017.

Atlanta, Ga. March 17, 2016

Team Novo Nordisk, the world’s first all-diabetes professional cycling team, and Pioneer Electronics, a leading global manufacturer of electronic products for the consumer and professional markets, announced a new partnership naming Pioneer as the exclusive equipment supplier to Team Novo Nordisk for cycle computers and power meters through 2017.

“Team Novo Nordisk selected Pioneer because it’s imperative for our riders, coaches and directors to have a reliable system providing on-bike performance data,” said Team Novo Nordisk Senior Vice President of Athletics Vassili Davidenko. “We are eager to use Pioneer’s technology to monitor performance, health and well-being of our athletes as we race around the world.”

“When Pioneer entered the power meter category in 2013, we were the first company to offer dual leg feedback and the first to collect force direction. We innovated and disrupted the category, creating a new class of power meter, HD Power Meters,” said Russ Johnston, executive vice president of marketing and corporate communications for Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc.  “We have built our system to perform at the highest level for athletes and we’re excited to bring this technology and training tool to Team Novo Nordisk.”

Team Novo Nordisk’s men’s professional team kicked off the 2016 season using the Pioneer HD Power Meters. The pro squad, which consists of 17 athletes from 9 different countries living successfully with diabetes, is currently racing its fourth season as a UCI Professional Continental team. This year, the team will race in South America, the Middle East, Europe, North America and Asia and will make its World Tour stage race debut at the Tour de Pologne in July.

Building off of more than 75 years of electronics experience, Pioneer expanded into the cycle sports industry in 2013 when it started designing world-class power meters and cycle computers for professional athletes and cycling enthusiasts.
