STORIS New Release 9.6 Enhances Selling Tools for Retailers

Mt. Arlington, NJ — On October 1, 2015 STORIS debuted their latest release 9.6, marking their second software package this year. The release is part of their aggressive development timeline, which aims to deliver a new version of STORIS with significant features and enhancements every 6 months.

“STORIS is pushing the boundaries of our already unprecedented R&D program,” stated Director of Application Development, Phil Pepper. “Technology is changing more rapidly than ever before, and at STORIS we have aligned our resources to maintain a competitive pace.”

Some significant enhancements seen in 9.6 were developed in conjunction with Ashley Furniture HomeStores DFW, STORIS’ latest Top 100 Partner located in Dallas, Texas.  “Ashley Furniture HomeStores has a unique promotional strategy and now STORIS can successfully execute intricate promotional and pricing tactics,” said Frank Wilkes, who headed the application development. “As STORIS continues to grow their Ashley HomeStore family, the benefits that Ashley retailers realize grow as well,” Frank continued. Beta testing for these enhancements was completed by the Dufresne/ Spencer Group.

STORIS’ controls around discounting and pricing have already preserved millions of margin dollars for clients. The enhanced levels of rule configuration and security seen in 9.6 take these abilities to the next level. “It is apparent from furniture retail sales advertisements just how innovative promotional strategies have become,” said Frank Wilkes. 9.6’s discount enhancements include advanced line item discounting, discount hierarchy configuration and promotion timetables. Retailers will be able to perform innovative discounts including Buy One Get One, Minimum Eligibility Requirements and Group Discounting by inventory formations. Since applying these innovative discounts can be complex, STORIS has introduced a feature that allows clients to schedule discounts to be automatically applied to the order, which will guarantee consistent and accurate discounts for the customer.

For retailers, confidence in the ability to accurately price sales is vital. Discount abuse, unfortunately, is a problem many retailers experience. Customers will purchase merchandise to qualify for a promotion or sales personnel will give discounts that do not meet sales requirements, only to return the items later and maintain the rewards. With 9.6, retailers are protected from this thanks to advanced back-end rules.

Although STORIS exclusively services the home furnishings industry, no two retailers are exactly the same. This is why STORIS has the flexibility to meet business rules for individual clients. In 9.6, STORIS has increased setting options across areas including sales person activity, commission levels, delivery, financing on orders, and warranties — just to name a few.

Financing was another important area of focus in 9.6. STORIS now has settings for retailers to determine how their merchandise becomes eligible for certain financing plans. This helps the sales person make decisions that meet business rules at the Point of Sale. “We are looking forward to seeing how these new selling features will help our retailers grow revenue and maintain inventory profitability,” said Phil Pepper.
