OXNARD, CA – (March 11, 2015) – SCOSCHE, an award-winning innovator of consumer electronics/technology and car & motorcycle audio installation hardware, is pleased to announce that it has moved into a spacious new distribution center in the town of Spruce Pine in Franklin County, Alabama, relocating from its prior location in Russellville. The new facility will not only triple the company’s available capacity, but it will also serve as a special emergency shelter area for the staff in the event of a tornado or other natural disaster and will offer employment opportunities for residents in the area.
The new distribution center’s upgraded capacity provides the room needed to support present storage and shipping volume growth. The latest addition to SCOSCHE’s distribution network includes 14 docks, 30 foot side wall construction, five times the cubic foot, full automatic sprinkler, controlled access, and a monitoring security system.
“This new distribution center is part of a significant supply chain transformation that will dramatically continue to improve the way we meet our customer’s needs,” said Roger Alves, Founder & President of SCOSCHE Industries.
The strategic Spruce Pine location of the distribution center reaches 37 states within 48 hours using standard ground services. The geographic location, combined with an improved facilities layout, upgraded equipment and automation will ensure efficient and effective order processing while providing timely and cost effective shipments for SCOSCHE customers.
“Speed of order processing and delivery are essential elements in being able to meet the expectations of our growing customer base,” stated Doug Froelich, Director of Operations at SCOSCHE.
The new distribution center will be managed and operated by MDI Inc. The facility is the first new significant business development to be located in the area since the devastating tornados of 2011. The tornadoes significantly impacted the area, not only contributing to deaths but also to a major reduction in the overall population as former residences left and did not return to the area. Because of the dangers of reoccurring storms and tornadoes, the new facility also serves as a special emergency shelter area for the staff in the event of a tornado or other natural disaster.
The parcel acquisition and building construction, which was financed with a mixture of private and government grants, brings with it a number of significant benefits to the surrounding community. These include employment opportunities for residents in the area, new road and highway improvements, a new 500,000 gallon water tower which lowers the fire rating of the community and in turn will lower insurance rates for the town and its residents, extended sewer lines benefiting over 1,000 residences and a comprehensive recycling program resulting in greater than 90% recycling of the waste stream.
