SanDisk Wins 2015 IEEE Corporate Innovation Award

MILPITAS, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–SanDisk Corporation (NASDAQ:SNDK), a global leader in flash storage solutions, today announced that the company has been honored with the 2015 IEEE Corporate Innovation Award for pioneering innovation, development, and deployment of Flash Memory Technology, which has profoundly changed the world.

IEEE is the world’s largest professional association dedicated to advancing technology for humanity. The Corporate Innovation Award was established to recognize outstanding innovation by organizations across the world and recipients are honored for their resolve to discover, extend, or complement technological advancements in education, industry, research, and service.

“From the beginning, we knew that flash memory technology had the potential to be used in a broad range of applications,” said Sanjay Mehrotra, co-founder, president and chief executive officer at SanDisk. “However, we didn’t realize just how big it could be. Today it is an enabling technology that is used around the world – from mobile phones and laptop computers to enterprise data centers. It has taken years of pioneering work and perseverance to make this a reality. On behalf of all our employees and valued partners at SanDisk, it is an honor to receive the prestigious recognition for our work.”

Since SanDisk’s founding in 1988, the company has been focused on advancing flash memory technology, and that dedication has enabled new markets and devices that people use everyday — from digital photography to USB drives to smartphones, wearables, tablets and thin-and-light notebooks. Today, SanDisk is also bringing flash memory to enterprise storage and transforming the data center.

SanDisk has a long history of technology innovation. Last November, SanDisk’s co-founder and retired CEO, Dr. Eli Harari, received the National Medal of Technology and Innovation – the United States’ highest honor for scientific achievement.

SanDisk will receive the 2015 IEEE Corporate Innovation Award at the IEEE Honors Ceremony on June 20th, which is being held at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City.
