WAKEFIELD, Mass. – Nov. 5, 2014 – The NFC Forum today announced that its Executive Director, Paula Hunter, is a featured speaker at the upcoming “Internet of Things Applications USA” event, November 20 in Santa Clara, California. With 500 million NFC-enabled devices in the market, NFC is recognized as a key enabler of the connected world. Hunter’s presentation is entitled “NFC: Bridging the Internet of Things.”
“Connected cars, smart homes, and wearable devices are all changing the way we interact with our virtual and physical worlds — the groundwork is in place to make the Internet of Things a reality,” said Hunter. “It’s an exciting time for those of us working in and around this space. For electronic devices that are Internet-enabled, the Internet of Things is already as close as the nearest hotspot or handset. How can objects that are too small, remote, or low-powered make an easy Internet connection? The answer is NFC. I look forward to sharing our technology’s progress as well as a wide range of innovative NFC use cases available across all sectors of the Internet of Things.”
In her presentation, Hunter will deliver an overview of the current state of the NFC industry, focusing on market projections as well as challenges and opportunities pertaining to a variety of use cases. Hunter will explore the role NFC is playing in the Internet of Things today, such as the specific applications that are gaining traction. Her presentation will conclude by explaining how NFC is easily interoperable with and complementary to other platforms such as Bluetooth Smart® and Wi-Fi®.
Hunter has a deep and broad background in technology association leadership, management, marketing, operations, and business development.
