Capitol Adds Philips Hue to Growing Selection of Connected Home Products

EAGAN, MN – Capitol, the leading consumer electronics distribution source for residential systems and light commercial contractors, consumer electronics dealers, and premium incentive resellers, now offers Philips Hue Smart Home Lighting as a powerful personal wireless lighting system that lets users control up to 50 connected Hue lights throughout the home or office.

Featuring the Starter Kit with three LED bulbs and a network hub, Philips Hue uses the ZigBee LightLink standard so that Hue bulbs communicate with each other as well as other ZigBee-based devices such as motion sensors and home thermostats. The network hub offers a broad signal range, and uses significantly less stand-by power than traditional Wi-Fi systems.  Additional apps developed for Hue are available through app stores or meetHue.com.

“Philips Hue is the perfect example of a Smart Home lighting system that gives users more than just a convenient way to turn lights on and off,” said Curt Hayes, President and CFO, Russound. “Philips designed Hue to become an integral part of users’ lives, with numerous lighting and color options, effects, and timers, and it’s all accomplished with no more effort than it takes to operate the average light.”

Philips Hue offers maximum flexibility, featuring compatibility with some of the market’s most popular Smart Home products. Hue works with Nest, interacting with all Nest products. Consumers can use a Nest Cam to turn off the lights when leaving a room, or to switch lights to see through smoke if there is an emergency. In addition, Hue is compatible with Amazon Echo, making it easy to control lights simply by asking.

Added Hayes: “Philips Hue illustrates how the IoT is making a lasting impact on both the DIY and custom channels. Installers, in particular, are benefitting from how easy it is to add Hue to as a complement to new and existing whole-home systems. All that is needed is a robust network and a minimal amount of labor to incorporate Hue into any sized project.”
