BOSTON — JookBox speakers combine the portability and affordability of travel speakers, with the sound quality and expansion options of mounted entertainment systems. These durable speakers are app-enabled and allow multiple users to contribute their individual music to a collaborative playlist that can be streamed through up to 10 speakers at once. JookBox speakers are currently running a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter with a funding goal of $35,000 to fund the final production and mass-distribution of the speakers.
Unlike other portable speakers, JookBox can be synced with up to 10 other units. Place one in each room of the house for a cohesive musical experience, or bring multiple to a single location for the ultimate party atmosphere. While one JookBox speaker is loud enough to fill a room with high-quality sound, the syncing ability can create a surround sound effect or fill large outdoor areas with exquisite sound. Jookbox can also be synced with televisions and video streaming applications like Netflix to deliver full-force surround sound.
The JookBox app will be available for all iOS and Android devices. This app will allow everyone at the party to be the DJ. By letting multiple people contribute their personal music to a single, collaborative playlist, the JookBox app makes music social again. Much like old timey jukeboxes, this app brings together all kinds of music and allows everyone to interact and work together to create the party’s playlist.
“I came up with the idea for JookBox speakers while at a party in college one night,” said Thomas Condon, the inventor of JookBox. “I was frustrated with the little amount of sound that could be produced by a single portable speaker. The compact size of Jookbox, just over eight inches in length, doesn’t take away from the amazing sound quality and engineering. With a rechargeable battery, JookBox speakers are equipped to last for up to 10 hours of music playback. Made from a combination of durable plastics, the speakers are shock-proof and water resistant. JookBox also offers three ways to connect, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and NFC.
