Brookstone Launches Operation Awesome Holiday

SEATTLE and MERRIMACK, N.H., Nov. 4, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — Brookstone, the product development company and specialty retailer with 240 stores in malls and airports across the U.S., today launched Operation Awesome Holiday, a nationwide campaign with a simple purpose: help people across the country have an awesome holiday (http://www.brookstone.com/awesome). A specially-designed Jeep Wrangler outfitted with a sleigh full of presents on its roof kicks off the campaign today in Seattle, to visit deserving children and families in some 20 cities to make their holidays, well, awesome. In the Seattle/Tacoma region, Brookstone has partnered with the Madigan Foundation to bring gifts of its products to military families from Joint Base Lewis-McChord and those in the care of Madigan Army Medical Center. Nationwide, Brookstone will donate more than $50,000 in products and gift cards to local non-profits and other organizations.

“Operation Awesome Holiday is all about helping make the holiday season as easy, stress-free and joyous as possible,” said Steve Schwartz, interim president and CEO, Brookstone. “We’re honored to offer these gifts to the Madigan Foundation to support members of our military and their families who serve our nation so bravely and selflessly, and we look forward to helping many others across the country have an awesome holiday season.”

Dr. Leslie M. Burger, Major General, US Army (Ret.), president of the Madigan Foundation, commented, “There is no finer calling than caring for service members and their families who sacrifice so much for us every day. We are very grateful to Brookstone for their generosity and support.” Since 1995, the Madigan Foundation, a non-profit, 501(c)3 organization, has supported military families, active and retired, and Madigan Army Medical Center, through programs designed to improve and enhance the quality of care and life of patients, their families and their healthcare providers.

Katie, who regularly appears on NBC’s TODAY Show and CNN and is a frequent contributor to national magazines and websites, said, “Brookstone understands the role technology and innovation can play in making our lives easier, better and, sometimes, just really fun! I’m excited to hit the road on Operation Awesome Holiday to bring smiles to families around the country and to share what we expect will be some of this holiday season’s hottest gadgets, gear and gifts.”
