Wynonna Judd To Play Nationwide’s PrimeTime Show

Taking full advantage of its Nashville venue, the Nationwide Marketing Group has snagged a major country star to kick off its PrimeTime meeting and buy fair next month.Wynonna Judd, now touring behind her first new album in seven years, will play before the group’s independent dealers and vendors at the Grand Ole Opry on Aug. 14.

Judd and her touring band, Wynonna & The Big Noise (also the album’s title), follow a PrimeTime performance by Martina McBride when Nationwide last assembled in Nashville in 2014.

“This will definitely be a night to remember,” said Nationwide chief commercial officer Jeff Knock, who doubled as a drummer for the opening act at the 2014 show. “We can’t come to Nashville and not utilize the Grand Ole Opry, and what better headliner than Wynonna and The Big Noise to create some great memories at the kickoff event for our attendees.”

The PrimeTime show, to be held Aug. 14-17 at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center under the theme “We Are Nationwide,” will also feature product demonstrations, cash-back opportunities, and show-special deals from leading appliance, electronics and furniture manufacturers, the group said.

Nationwide will also launch expanded digital marketing, financial and in-store services and a new, curriculum-based Nationwide Learning Academy seminar series, and will host another gathering of industry-leading millennials within the group’s NeXt Gen network.

The show marks the buying and merchandising organization’s 45th anniversary.

In its review of the album, the Wall Street Journal said Judd is “singing with authority what she wants to as she wants to, and it’s marvelous,” and described the music as “gleefully crossing lines between hard country, electric blues rock, and contemporary Americana.”
