Thanksgiving Again Expected To Host Hottest Tech Deals, Says DealNews

As retailers slowly divulge whether they plan to open on Thanksgiving, consumers are plotting whether to brave the crowds and skip the turkey in order to snag the best doorbusters.

But are they, in fact, the best?

DealNews.com combed through last year’s holiday deals to determine whether Thanksgiving, Black Friday or Cyber Monday carries the best promotions. According to its findings, Thanksgiving took top prize as the day offering the most number of “Editor’s Choice” deals, which the site defines as a deal that’s “rare or unique” by carrying a “price that we’ve never seen before or from a store that rarely discounts its items.”

Turkey Day is again expected to reign supreme, with cameras, speakers, video games, TVs, Apple products and appliances all expected to see the greatest number of discounts on those days. Headphone seekers should brave the throngs on Black Friday, while Android users can wait all the way until Cyber Monday.

Whether retailers balking at Thanksgiving Day openings will see a negative effect on this year’s sales as a result remains to be seen. DealNews.com takes both online and in-store deals into account, so chains holding robust e-commerce promotions on Thanksgiving are still very much in contention for consumers’ wallets.
