MIRAMAR, FLA. – E-tailer Roxy.com has combined its wireless operation, EverythingWireless.com, with its namesake site, and has dubbed the newly designed and just-launched sales portal Roxy Satellite & Wireless.
The new operation combines the best personalized, interactive product information and sales tools of its precursors, but will retain the Roxy Web address, www.roxy.com.
According to chairman/founder Keith Clougherty, the fusion reflects the company’s decision to focus on its core satellite TV and personal wireless categories, while editing its CE offerings back to a select line of peripheral electronics-such as MP3 players and GPS devices-that connect with and enhance the experience of satellite TV, wireless and broadband customers.
“We expect to play a major role in driving, and profiting from, the convergence of home entertainment, tele-communications and the Internet,” Clougherty said. “Our business model, with packaged hardware/ content offerings at its core, is ideally suited to take advantage of all the new opportunities in satellite-delivered TV, Internet and digital video recording services, as well as broadband DSL and Web-enabled wireless phones, Palm and other mobile devices with Internet service connections.”
To herald the new website, Roxy is planning an “m-commerce” venture that brings product sales directly to wireless phone and mobile Web appliance users. The company has also added direct-response television marketing to its arsenal of online, telemarketing, print catalog, affiliate, face-to-face and corporate sales programs.
As part of the consolidation, Roxy has moved its headquarters from Marlboro, Mass., to Florida, where it maintains a 70,000-square-foot office/warehouse facility, The company currently employs 120 and expects to reach profitability during the first half of the year.
